Natural Beauty Tips

Cilla Said

If there is one thing we advocate here at the lazy girl, it’s the idea that natural beauty is the best (and easiest) kind of beauty there is. Whilst make up is fine for special occasions, or feeling a little fancy, it’s in no way necessary for everyday life. Your natural beauty is all you need – but if you’d like to enhance it without the use of makeup here are a few tips.

Enhancing your natural beauty from within is a great way to give yourself a boost and if you don’t wear makeup very regularly, it’s also a great way to ensure you still feel groomed and good to go. Alternatively, if you’re a total make up addict, enhancing your natural beauty could help you ween yourself off of the hard stuff and start appreciating your face for its own sake.

Make skin care your bitch

If you can create and maintain a boss skin care routine, you’ll need to do very little else to make your face glow. Invest in decent products; such as anything from the lush range or Benefit’s beautifully bottled skin care line, and take some time to find out what works for you. It could even be worth booking yourself in for a consultation at the beauty counter to find out what type of skin you’re dealing with and how best to treat it.

Use food as beauty fuel

Whilst I am all for spending a weekend hiding under the duvet and eating nothing but Dorito dip, this sort of behaviour won’t have anything but a negative effect on your natural beauty. So, whilst it’s fine to take some time off every now and again, be mindful about what you’re putting in your body and give it the food it needs to fuel itself efficiently and effectively. If, like me, you don’t always manage to do this then try keeping some vitamin D and zinc around the house, or simply take a multivitamin each morning to ensure your body has the fuel it needs to keep you looking gorgeous.

Have a lazy lie in

As beauty tips goes, this has to be my favourite. It’s a well-known but much under used way of ensuring that your natural beauty has everything it needs to stay on form. Sleep, sleep long and hard and don’t stop sleeping until you wake up. Seriously, sleep gives your body time to restore itself and your mind the time it needs to process your day. You'll be much more relaxed, and far more beautiful, if you stay in bed a little longer.

Hydrate the hell out of yourself

I have a thing about drinks – I need one near me at all times, for fear that dehydration will set in and carry me off to la la land. Whilst this is highly irrational, it still stands that keeping your body well hydrated day and night has highly beneficial effects on your natural beauty (not to mention your mood). So, by the simple act of keeping some infused water to hand, you’ll never be low on fluids and your body can keep doing the things it’s best at, whilst keeping you looking your best.

Basically, your body already has some pretty good tools for keeping you beautiful – it’s all about delegation. If you give your body the right fuel to do the jobs it needs to in order to keep you glowing, you’ll be far less reliant on makeup and masks to make you feel gorgeous, and by using these products less you’ll benefit your natural beauty even more. It’s win, win really, trust me!
